He developed his love for the steel pan in the tropical island paradise of Door County, Wisconsin. During the summers of 1998-2002 at the Birch Creek Music Performance Center, he studied under steel pan virtuoso Liam Teague and G. Allan O’Connor. He has also studied percussion under James Campbell, Robert Chappell, Dan Moore, Dane Richeson, and many others.
He chose the name “Crash” to reflect the sound of chaotic ocean waves coming smoothly to rest on a sunny shoreline. After all, his parents did start him on drum lessons at age 9 - what better way to focus youthful energy than by handing a child a pair of sticks and telling him to beat on things?
Collin is also the choral director and theatre educator at Baker Intermediate School in Winchester, KY. He boasts over 18 years of experience in elementary music and theatre education, helping establish thriving choral and theatrical programs in multiple schools.
Collin has been performing with the Conch Republic Band since 2021. He previously played steel pan for over 10 years with Caribbean Blues until their disbandment. He also frequently performs with the Madison Community Band in Richmond, KY
